SHLP2
Small Humanin-Like Peptide 2 Β· MOTS-like peptide Β· mitochondrial peptide
A mitochondrial-derived peptide from the 12S rRNA locus with anti-apoptotic and cytoprotective properties. Higher circulating levels are associated with human longevity and centenarian status.
π SC injection (research); endogenous peptideπ§ Lyophilised: β20 Β°C long-term. Reconstituted: β80 Β°C for storage, avoid freeze-thaw.

Mechanism of Action
Encoded in the mitochondrial 12S rRNA reading frame. Acts as an anti-apoptotic cytoprotective factor: reduces reactive oxygen species production, inhibits the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway, and supports neuronal and retinal cell survival. Serum levels decline with age.
Clinical Applications
- βLongevity and healthspan research
- βNeuroprotection and age-related cognitive decline (preclinical)
- βRetinal cell protection and macular degeneration research (preclinical)
- βMitochondrial dysfunction and metabolic aging (preclinical)
