Adipotide
FTPP Β· Fat-Targeted Proapoptotic Peptide Β· prohibitin-targeting peptide
A chimeric pro-apoptotic peptide targeting the vasculature of white adipose tissue. Induced ~40% body weight reduction in obese rhesus monkeys by selectively starving adipose tissue of its blood supply.
π SC injection (animal research)π§ Lyophilised: β20 Β°C. Reconstituted: use within 24 hours. Protect from light.

Mechanism of Action
Contains two functional domains: a targeting sequence (CKGGRAKDC) that homes to prohibitin on the surface of adipose blood vessel endothelium, and a pro-apoptotic domain (KLAKLAK)β that disrupts mitochondrial membranes after internalization, triggering apoptosis in adipose vasculature and subsequent fat cell death.
Clinical Applications
- βSevere obesity unresponsive to conventional treatment (research only)
- βVisceral adiposity reduction (preclinical)
- βMetabolic syndrome research model
